Everything You Need for a Better Closet.

Choosing a closet system shouldn't be a struggle. We’ve spent over two decades figuring out what works best and putting those pieces together into simple, ready-to-go kits. We've done the work to make sure every shelf and rod fits together perfectly so you don't have to guess.

Why choose John Louis Home for this? It’s really about the wood. Most kits you find are made of pressed wood or "particle board" that ends up sagging. We use 100% solid wood because we believe your home deserves a closet that lasts. You get the beauty and strength of a custom-built closet, but because you’re handling the "cut-to-fit" install yourself, you’re getting a much better value.

  • ★★★★★ "Finally, real wood quality."

"I was skeptical about doing this myself, but the 100% solid wood makes such a difference. No sagging, no flimsy parts. It looks like a high-end custom job but for a fraction of what I was quoted elsewhere." - Sarah M., Verified Homeowner

  • ★★★★☆ "Great result, just take your time."

"It took me a little longer than I planned to get the cuts exactly right for my wall, but it was worth the extra effort. The quality of the wood is top-notch. I only wish I’d started this project sooner!" - Jessica R., Verified Homeowner

  • ★★★★★ "The DIY win of the year."

"We finally ripped out the old wire racks in our master bedroom. These solid wood systems changed the whole feel of the room. They don't just hold more weight; they make the closet feel like a luxury space. I love that I didn't have to hire a custom closet company to get this look." - Mark T., Verified Homeowner

Most big-box closet kits force you into a frustrating choice between "thick" MDF or particle board laminates that are still just manufactured wood, or the cheap route of sagging shelves and chipped corners. It’s a lose-lose. You shouldn't have to choose between "overpriced" and "disposable" - especially when you’re the one doing the work to install it.

We stick with 100% solid wood because there is simply no substitute for the beauty of real wood. It gives your space that high-end custom look without the custom cost. From the natural wood grain to the solid metal hardware, we build things to stay exactly where you put them. It’s the difference between a temporary fix and a closet that’s actually going to last for a lifetime.

A real wood upgrade for your hardest-working room.

The laundry room is often the most overlooked space in the house, but it’s the one that works the hardest. Between heavy detergent jugs and damp clothes, you need shelving that actually stands up to the weight and the humidity. Most people settle for flimsy wire shelving or manufactured wood that peels when it gets damp, but even your laundry room deserves the beauty of solid wood.Because we use real wood and solid metal hardware, these organizers won't sag or buckle under pressure. It’s about taking a room that’s usually a mess and turning it into a space that’s organized and built to stay that way. If you need some inspiration for the wall above your washer and dryer, we put together a few ideas here: Mastering the Wall: Shelving Ideas Over the Washer and Dryer.

Laundry rooms are surprisingly tough on storage. Between heavy detergent jugs and everyday humidity, standard wire or particle board shelves tend to sag, rust, or peel over time. We stick to 100% solid wood and metal brackets simply because your laundry room deserves shelves that actually hold up to real life. Here’s a quick look at the difference:

Quality Feature John Louis Home The Big Box Standard
Material 100% Solid Wood Wire or Particle Board

Moisture Naturally holds up to humidity Surfaces peel or rust over time

Stop hiding your pantry. Start showing it off.

Most kitchens come with standard wire shelving that makes every grocery trip a struggle. Small items tip over or wobble, and let’s be honest—it just doesn't look very good. When you’re stocking up for the week, you shouldn't have to worry about whether your shelves can handle the weight, or have to deal with that same flash of disappointment every time you open the door just because you’re stuck with wire shelving.

Switching to 100% solid wood changes the entire feel of your kitchen. It gives you the beauty of a custom pantry and the strength to hold a massive "Costco run" without the custom cost. We even broke down exactly why that kind of strength matters when you're unloading a big haul in our guide: Engineering for the Costco Run: Why Your Pantry Needs a 1,200 lb. Capacity. It’s the difference between a pantry that feels like a storage closet and a space that actually looks like it belongs in your home.

Entryway with a dark wood hall tree with storage compartments, hooks, and a seat. After image

Stop tripping over the mess. Start coming home to an entryway that actually works.

Most of the time, the entryway is just the place where everything lands—shoes, bags, and more. Since it’s the first thing you see when you get home, it’s a bit of a letdown to walk through the door and immediately have to navigate a pile of clutter on the floor instead of a clear path. When life gets busy, that space just fills up so fast.

You want a spot that feels solid when you sit down to pull off your shoes and can handle traffic without any trouble. That’s why we use real wood for our benches and hall trees. Real wood quality that lasts, all at an affordable price. Sometimes it's as simple as having durable hooks and shoe cubbies to get things off the floor so you can actually walk in. Since they’re flexible, they can grow with you as your needs change—it just makes your entry way more calm and inviting. If you’re looking for more ways to keep it all under control, here's some ideas: 3 Mudroom Storage Ideas: Ending the Entryway Chaos.

Expert Entryway Tip

One thing about these hall trees is how they change with you. You can actually take the cubby top off or flip the back panels to show a different side whenever you feel like switching things up. It’s an easy way to refresh the look of your room without needing a whole new piece of furniture later on.

4 Cube wall bookshelf with storage boxes and decor items as a room divider with a window and plant. Modern loft interior with a large wooden cube bookshelf, desk, and decor.

Why buy the same cubes twice? Real wood cubes built to last.

We’ve all been there—spending an afternoon struggling with confusing instructions and tiny plastic parts, only to end up with a cube organizer that feels wobbly the second you put a few books in it. It’s a common frustration because even though these are seen as an affordable, stylish way to organize toys or media, they almost always fall short of long-term expectations. Usually, the laminate starts peeling because those cheap materials just weren't meant for the long haul. It feels like a waste of money when you know you're just going to have to throw it away and start over in a year or two.

That’s why we took the cube concept and did it in 100% real wood. We focus on affordable real wood solutions that are built to last in your home. Instead of flimsy pins and cardboard back panels, we use an open-format design and metal hardware to keep everything locked tight and stable over time. They’re incredibly versatile—and since they're modular, you can mix and match different units to create exactly what you need. It’s about getting that lasting value and quality so your storage grows with you instead of falling apart. We actually went into more detail on this in our recent look at Modular, Not Mobile: Why Real Wood Cube Storage Wins the "Forever Piece" Argument.

Expert Cube Tip:

You can take the 4-cube tall unit and mount it horizontally on the wall. It creates a really solid, clean-looking floating wall shelf that’s perfect for keeping floor space clear while still getting that extra storage for decor or books.

Q. Is it actually 100% solid wood, or just a veneer?

We don’t do veneers, MDF, or "engineered" wood. Everything we make is 100% kiln-dried white pine. We use it because it’s naturally strong and holds up to weight without the sagging or peeling you get with particle board.

Q. Can I really install this myself?

Absolutely. We designed these systems specifically for homeowners, not contractors. If you can use a level, a tape measure, and a power drill, you can handle this.

Q. What if I need help with a complicated layout?

Don’t sweat it. We offer a Free Custom Design Service. You send us your dimensions, and our team will create a professional layout for you so you know exactly what to order.

Q. What tools are required?

The tools required for closet organizers are a tape measure, pencil, level, screwdriver, power drill, and a saw. John Louis Home recommends a table saw, chop saw, or a fine-toothed hand saw. For our benches, cube organizers, hall trees and storage racks all you need is a screwdriver. Allen wrenches are provided.

Q. How long will it take to get my order?

Typically, you can expect your order in5 to 7 days. Because we fulfill everything directly out of our Fenton warehouse, we process orders fast—usually within 24 to 36 hours. From there, it takes an additional3 to 5 daysfor UPS, FedEx, or freight to deliver the system straight to your door.

Q. What if my item is out of stock? Can I still order?

You can still purchase out-of-stock items through back-order. The product details page will indicate if an item is back-ordered, along with an estimated date for when it will be in stock. Please note that this is just an estimate, and some items may be shipped earlier or later than the indicated date.

Q. What if my closet isn't a "standard" size?

That’s the secret behind our "Cut-to-Fit" approach. Whether your wall is 4 feet or 12 feet, you simply trim the solid wood shelves and garment bars to your exact dimensions during install for a true wall-to-wall built-in look.

Q. How much weight can these shelves actually hold?

When installed correctly into the studs, our pantry and closet shelves are rated to handle up to 1,200 lbs. per section. It’s built for heavy coats, bulk groceries, and the stuff you actually use every day.

Q. How is solid wood this affordable?

We’ve been at this for 23 years, and because we handle our own manufacturing and ship directly from our warehouse in Fenton, Missouri, we cut out the "custom closet" middlemen.
