A.This is 100% solid kiln-dried wood. We do not use MDF, particle board, or wood-grain Veneer.
Q.Are the drawer glides soft-close?
A.Yes. All John Louis Home drawers use full-extension, ball-bearing glides with a slow-close feature for a premium feel and long-term durability.
Q.Can I customize the layout to fit my specific wall?
A. Yes. All components are cut-to-fit on-site. The tower and shelf heights are adjustable in 4-inch increments, so you can configure it exactly how you need it.
Q.Is the finish safe for my family and clothes?
A.Absolutely. We use water-based, non-toxic stains with zero VOCs. There is no chemical smell or off-gassing after installation.
Q. What tools do I need for installation?
A.You will need a drill, a level, a screwdriver, and a fine-toothed saw (a miter saw is best) to cut the wood to your exact wall measurements.
Q.Can I add more shelves or drawers later?
A.Yes. Because our system is modular, you can add extra drawers, shelves, or accessories at any time as your wardrobe grows.
Q.How is the tower unit mounted?
A.The tower is secured directly to the back wall using provided metal hardware. It can be mounted at any height.
Q. Can the shelves be cut to any length?
A.The solid wood shelves are designed to be cut-to-size on-site. This ensures a perfect, wall-to-wall fit even in closets with non-standard dimensions.
Q.How much clearance is there for my hangers?
A.The garment bar sits 10.25 inches from the back wall. This provides ample clearance for any standard hanger without your clothes rubbing against the wall.
Q.Can I use different handles on the drawers and doors?
A.Yes. While we provide high-quality hardware, the holes use standard 5-inch (128mm) spacing, making it easy to swap them for your own custom pulls.
Q.Can Shelf Kits be installed in a 90-degree corner?
A.Yes, Shelf Kits can be installed in a corner at a 90-degree angle. One shelf (A) is installed onto the back wall and side wall. The other shelf (B) is installed to the perpendicular wall and secured to the front of shelf (A) using the included Shelf End Hardware.
Q.Can Shelf Kits be installed on brick or plaster?
A.John Louis Home shelving is designed for installation on current specifications and methods of wood studding and drywall. While the Shelf Kit can be installed on alternative wall types, custom wall preparation and hardware will be required.
Q.What if my cut measurement is in the middle of a shelf slat?
A.There are two solutions to this. One – The size of the included Shelf End Hardware allows for short cuts; therefore, you may cut at the nearest slat side of your measurement. Two – Make your cut using a fine-toothed straight handsaw and place the cut slat side facing the sidewall.
Q.What if my walls aren't perfectly square?
A.This is the benefit of a cut-to-fit system. Because you trim the wood on-site, you can account for "wavy" or out-of-square walls to get a professional, gap-free finish that pre-built kits can't match.
