Professional Insight: This kit is designed to sit right on top of our Shoe & Entryway Benches. It gives you that custom look without needing a contractor. Important: Make sure your bottom bench is fully built before you start this part. If you haven't built the bench yet, pause here and check the guide below.

Assemble Your Bench First (View Guide)

Before You Start

Clear some floor space. This unit gets tall and heavy once it's built, so we recommend assembling it as close to its final spot as possible. Check your box to make sure you have everything.

Parts Checklist

  • F: Main Hall Tree Top (1)
  • G: Left Corner Post (1)
  • H: Right Corner Post (1)
  • I: Back Panels (2)
  • J: Panel Divider (1)
  • K: Back Hooks (4)
  • A-E: Extension Components (Optional Upper Storage)
  • L: Top Hooks (2)

Required Tools

  • #2 Phillips Screwdriver (Hand tool is best to avoid over-tightening)
  • Helper (Recommended for lifting the top piece)

Step-by-Step Walkthrough Installation

Step 1: Install Vertical Supports & Panels

Starting with your assembled bench: Place the Left Corner (G) on the back-left corner of the seat. Slide the first Back Panel (I) into the groove. (Pro tip: These panels are reversible—pick the side you like best, grooved or flat, to face the front). Add the Panel Divider (J), the second panel, and the Right Corner (H). Lock everything down with the provided #6 screws.

Step 2: Top Assembly (Flat Top or Cubby Top)

If you like the Flat Top: Just insert the Cam Bolts into the Main Top (F) and drop it onto your vertical panels.

If you like the Storage Cube Top: You'll need to build the upper box first. Assemble the Extension Top (A), Sides, and Dividers using the Cam Bolts/Nuts. Slide in the back panel, then attach that whole block to the Main Top (F). Once that heavy upper section is one solid piece, lift it onto the vertical posts and tighten the Cam Locks from the inside.

Step 3: Hooks & Finishing

Time to add the hardware. Screw the four Back Hooks (K) into the vertical panels. If you have the top extension, you'll also have two double-prong Top Hooks (L) that go underneath the top shelf. Once the hooks are tight, pop the adhesive covers over the visible cam locks for a clean finish. Finally, it the bench cushion snugly on top of the unit.

Safety First: This Hall Tree is tall. We strongly recommend anchoring it to the wall with the included anti-tip hardware, especially if you have kids or pets running around.

Making Your Entryway Work for You

Let's be honest — the home entryways usually end up a mess of shoes and coats. A Hall Tree fixes that by creating an instant mudroom solution—giving everyone a specific "drop zone" to keep the chaos contained. It separates wet jackets from dry bags and keeps footwear off the floor.

Not just for the entryway: We've seen customers use these in laundry rooms for hanging air-dry clothes or in guest rooms that don't have a closet. Since it's 100% solid wood, it handles the heavy daily use of a busy mudroom much better than particle board, no matter where you put it.
