Professional Insight: This entryway bench is designed to be the foundation of a larger organization system. We specifically engineered it to pair with our Solid Wood Hall Tree Backing. By attaching the backing directly to this bench, you instantly create a mudroom "locker" system with heavy-duty coat hooks—without using any extra floor space. It’s the most efficient way to maximize vertical storage in a narrow foyer. To see how the backing connects, click the link below.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough Installation

Step 1: Frame Assembly & Groove Alignment

Position the bottom base panel on your protected work surface. Align the side panels with the base, paying close attention to the pre-cut grooves—ensure that the panel grooves are perfectly aligned to allow the back panel to slide in later. Insert the barrel nuts into the bottom panel locations, then thread the barrel bolts through the bench side. Use the Allen wrench to tighten the bolts in a clockwise rotation until snug.

Step 2: Back Panel & Vertical Spacers

Before attaching the top, slide the back panel down into the grooves you just aligned. Next, insert wooden dowels into the pre-drilled holes at the bench base. Place the two vertical spacers onto these wooden dowels. Critical Check: Ensure the notch at the top of the spacer is facing the back panel; this clearance is necessary for the top panel to fit correctly.

Step 3: Securing the Bench Top

Insert the remaining wooden dowels into the tops of the vertical spacers. Lower the bench top onto the base, ensuring it sits flush against the back panel and dowels. Secure the top by inserting barrel nuts into the side panels and threading the bolts through, tightening them in a clockwise fashion to lock the frame together.

Step 4: Structural Support & Cubby Grid

To prevent sagging under weight, secure the bottom support to the center underside of the unit using the 1-inch screws. Now, build your interior grid: place the vertical insert between the spacers. Once positioned, slide the horizontal insert into the slots to create the individual shoe cubbies.

Step 5: Final Comfort & Aesthetics

Fit the bench cushion snugly on top of the unit. For a polished look, insert the bolt caps into all exposed hardware locations on the sides of the bench. The cushion cover is removable should you need to machine wash it in the future.
