How To Give Us The Best Info.

  • Perspective: Face into your closet from the doorway.
  • Work Clockwise: Start at the wall to the immediate left of the doorway (Wall A) and work your way around the room (Walls B, C, D, and E) as shown in the form below.
  • Inches Only: Please provide all dimensions in total inches (e.g., 96" instead of 8ft).
  • Note the "Obstacles": Does your wall have a light switch, an outlet, or an access panel? Mention it in the notes so we can design your shelving to clear them.
  • The "Daily Routine" Photo: If your closet is a mess right now—take a photo of it. It’s the best way for us to see exactly where your current storage is failing you so we can fix it.

The johnlouishome.com design service is a closet design service only focused on creating layouts with our existing solid wood products. By specializing in our core system components, we provide a streamlined design process that excludes custom-manufactured additions like islands, dressing tables, lighting, or molding. We do not provide in-home installation or measurement services. All shelf lengths and garment bars ship in their original lengths, allowing you to cut shelves and garment bars to the exact dimensions of your space for a precise, custom fit. Pre-cut custom lengths are not provided.

  • Long Hang vs. Double Hang: Most people have more shirts and pants than long coats. Using "double hang" can double your storage space instantly.
  • Drawer Depth: Use 6-inch drawers for things like socks and 8-inch drawers for bulky stuff like jeans or sweaters.
  • The Return Wall: That small wall behind the door is prime real estate for shoe storage. Don’t let it go to waste.
